Afghans & Blankets: Granny Ripple Blanket Free Crochet Patterns

Granny crochet is one of the most classic and loved crochet patterns. The granny ripple is a variation of that all-time favorite, where instead of straight lines and diagonals you produce a wave or zig-zag design, with the line tending towards a wave or zig-zag depending on the crispness of the peaks and troughs. Give your traditional granny crochet a new flair.

Granny Ripple Blanket Free Crochet Pattern

The Granny Ripple blanket is a wonderful example o how granny crochet interacts with multiple colors to form a design that looks a lot more intricate than it actually is. Moreover, in true granny fashion, the separate color bands mean that uou won’t bust the bank with a big purchase of a single color of yarn, and can use shorter lengths you may have lying around.

Birdlebee’s Granny Ripple is a somewhat more intricate blanket, but it still uses the granny crochet method as its basis. The blanket adds a slight zig-zagging texture, to make the surface more interesting. Lastly, it’s topped off with a lovely crenellated edge, to give it that completed look. This is one of the better examples of granny crochet in recent memory.
